On the morning of April 9, 2021, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, husband of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth states, and the world's longest-serving royal consort, died in Windsor Castle at the age of 99. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh was Queen Elizabeth II's husband. From Elizabeth's accession on 6 February 1952 until his death in 2021, he was the British monarch's consort, making him the longest-serving royal consort in history. Philip was born in Greece, into the royal families of Greece and Denmark; his family was exiled from the country when he was eighteen months old. 

On April 8, 1929, freedom fighters Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt detonated smoke bombs in Delhi's Central Legislative Assembly. In modern Indian history, the episode is known as the Central Assembly Bombing Case. Young men from the Visitors' Gallery yelled chants such as 'Inquilab Zindabad,' 'Workers of the World Unite,' and 'Down with imperialism.' The voices belonged to Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt, two young revolutionary freedom warriors. Both males did not depart the scene or attempt to dodge arrest following the incident. They eagerly awaited arrest. Their declared goal was not to murder or hurt anyone, but to "help the deaf hear."

Pandey was pacing agitatedly in front of the regiment's guard room on the afternoon of March 29, 1857. He seemed overjoyed and was cheering to his fellow sepoys. He threatened to shoot the first European he met that day with a loaded musket. Lieutenant Henry Baugh, the Sergeant-adjutant, Major's rode up on a horse and was fired at by Pandey – the first gunshot at an Englishman during the 1857 Revolt. According to the judgement, Pandey was executed on April 8, 1857, and Prasad on April 21, 1857. On May 6th, the BNI's whole 34th Regiment was dissolved "with dishonour." This was done following an investigation that discovered the troops had failed to control a mutinous soldier.

India's first unmanned Earth satellite, Aryabhata. It was named after a prominent 5th century Indian astronomer and mathematician. The satellite was built in Peenya, near Bangalore, but was launched from within the Soviet Union on April 19, 1975, using a Russian-made rocket.

Tipu Sultan led his force of almost 100,000 soldiers west and managed to get within 6 kilometres of Bednore by April 9th. Matthews' forces were quickly beaten in the field outside of Bednore. Matthews fled the town and retreated to the fort, which was immediately besieged by the army of Mysore. Matthews' force of 600 European men and 1,000 Indian sepoys lost 500 losses in minutes and fled to the fort, abandoning the town.

Amit Trivedi (born April 8, 1979) is an Indian music director, singer, and lyricist who works primarily in Hindi films and a few Telugu films. He debuted as a film composer in the 2008 Hindi film Aamir, and was noticed for his critically acclaimed work in the Hindi film Dev.D (2009), which earned him several awards, including the 2010 National Film Award for Best Music Direction. Trivedi was born into a traditional Gujarati family in Bandra, Mumbai, India. Growing up, his only exposure to music was through devotional songs and Gujarati folk. Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is his hometown.

Charles and Camilla confirmed their engagement in February 2005, 35 years after they first met. There was much discussion over Camilla's title and whether she would ever be acknowledged as the Queen. It was reported that following the wedding, she would assume the title Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cornwall, in order to avoid sharing the title of Princess of Wales. Pablo Picasso died on April 8, 1973, at Mougins, France, of pulmonary edoema and heart failure, while entertaining guests for supper. He was laid to rest in the Château de Vauvenargues near Aix-en-Provence, which he had purchased in 1958 and shared with Jacqueline between 1959 and 1962. Jacqueline refused to allow his children, Claude and Paloma, to attend the burial. Devastated and lonely following Picasso's death, Jacqueline committed herself by gunshot in 1986, at the age of 59.

The Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, also known as the Second Kashmir War, was the culmination of skirmishes between Pakistan and India between April and September 1965. The conflict began as a result of Pakistan's Operation Gibraltar, which was designed to infiltrate forces into Jammu and Kashmir in order to spark an insurgency against Indian rule.

Saqib Saleem Qureshi, born 8 April 1988, is a Hindi film actor and model. Before beginning his film career, he worked as a model. Saleem began appearing in advertisements after relocating to Mumbai. While doing television commercials, he developed an interest in films and began auditioning for film roles, eventually signing a two-film deal as an actor with Y-Films, a subsidiary of Yash Raj Films (YRF). Saleem made his acting debut in the 2011 romantic comedy Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, which was a box-office success. He received praise for his performance in the film and was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

On 5 April 2011, Hazare began a hunger strike to put pressure on the Indian government to implement a harsh anti-corruption law, The Lokpal Bill, 2011, as anticipated in the Jan Lokpal Bill, for the establishment of an ombudsman with the authority to deal with corruption in public places. Protests in favour of the fast erupted around the country. The fast came to an end on April 9, 2011, a day after the government agreed to Hazare's demands. The government published a gazette notice establishing a joint committee comprised of government and civil society leaders to write the law.

Hugh Marston Hefner (April 9, 1926 – September 27, 2017) was a magazine publisher in the United States. He was the founder and editor-in-chief of Playboy magazine, which featured revealing photographs and articles that sparked obscenity charges. The first issue of Playboy, which featured Marilyn Monroe in a nude calendar shoot, was released in 1953 and sold over 50,000 copies. Hefner grew the Playboy brand into a global network of Playboy Clubs. He also lived in luxury mansions with Playboy pals, who shared his wild partying lifestyle, which piqued the media's interest. He was a Democratic Party activist who advocated for First Amendment rights, animal rescue, and the restoration of the Hollywood Sign.

Jaya Bachchan is an Indian actress and politician who was born on April 9, 1948. She has been a Rajya Sabha member of the Samajwadi Party since 2004, and has served four terms. She is best known for her work in Hindi and Bengali cinema, but she is also known for promoting a natural acting style in mainstream and "middle-of-the-road" films. She has received numerous honours, including nine Filmfare Awards and the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian honour.

Allu Arjun (born April 8, 1982) is an Indian actor best known for his work in Telugu films. Allu is one of the highest-paid actors in South India, and he is well-known for his dancing abilities. He has won several awards, including five Filmfare Awards South and five Nandi Awards. He has been included in Forbes India's Celebrity 100 list since 2014, based on his income and popularity. Allu made his film debut in 2003 with Gangotri. He rose to prominence as the lead actor in Sukumar's cult classic Arya (2004), for which he received a Nandi Special Jury Award. Allu won his first Filmfare Award for his performance in the romantic drama Parugu in 2008.

Bankim Chandra Chatterjee He was an Indian novelist, poet, and journalist who was born on June 27, 1838 and died on April 8, 1894. He wrote the 1882 Bengali language novel Anandamath, which is considered a landmark in modern Bengali and Indian literature. He wrote the original Sanskrit version of Vande Mataram, which personified India as a mother goddess and inspired activists during the Indian Independence Movement. Chattopadhayay wrote fourteen novels in Bengali, as well as numerous serious, serio-comic, satirical, scientific, and critical treatises. In Bengali, he is known as Sahitya Samrat (Emperor of Literature).
