Tipu Sultan led his force of almost 100,000 soldiers west and managed to get within 6 kilometres of Bednore by April 9th. Matthews' forces were quickly beaten in the field outside of Bednore. Matthews fled the town and retreated to the fort, which was immediately besieged by the army of Mysore. Matthews' force of 600 European men and 1,000 Indian sepoys lost 500 losses in minutes and fled to the fort, abandoning the town.

On April 8, 1929, freedom fighters Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt detonated smoke bombs in Delhi's Central Legislative Assembly. In modern Indian history, the episode is known as the Central Assembly Bombing Case. Young men from the Visitors' Gallery yelled chants such as 'Inquilab Zindabad,' 'Workers of the World Unite,' and 'Down with imperialism.' The voices belonged to Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt, two young revolutionary freedom warriors. Both males did not depart the scene or attempt to dodge arrest following the incident. They eagerly awaited arrest. Their declared goal was not to murder or hurt anyone, but to "help the deaf hear."

He wrote the original Sanskrit version of Vande Mataram, which personified India as a mother goddess and inspired activists during the Indian Independence Movement. Chattopadhayay wrote fourteen novels in Bengali, as well as numerous serious, serio-comic, satirical, scientific, and critical treatises. In Bengali, he is known as Sahitya Samrat (Emperor of Literature).

Pandit Ravi Shankar, also known as Rabindra Shankar Chowdhury, was an Indian sitarist and composer who lived from 7 April 1920 to 11 December 2012. He was a sitar virtuoso who rose to prominence as the world's best-known exponent of North Indian classical music in the second half of the twentieth century, influencing many musicians in India and around the world. Shankar received the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in 1999. Shankar was born in India to a Bengali Brahmin family and spent his youth as a dancer touring India and Europe with his brother Uday Shankar's dance group. In 1938, he gave up dancing to study sitar with court musician Allauddin Khan. In 1944, he completed his studies.

Chan Kong-sang, better known as Jackie Chan, is a world-renowned martial arts star. He has had a successful career as an actor, director, producer, action choreographer, stuntman, and so on. He is well-known in both Asia and the West for his immaculate fighting style and amazing comedy timing. Jackie Chan was born Chan Kong-sang on April 7, 1954, in British Hong Kong, parents Charles and Lee-Lee Chan. His parents were Chinese Civil War exiles who worked for the French embassy in Hong Kong.

On 5 April 2011, Hazare began a hunger strike to put pressure on the Indian government to implement a harsh anti-corruption law, The Lokpal Bill, 2011, as anticipated in the Jan Lokpal Bill, for the establishment of an ombudsman with the authority to deal with corruption in public places. Protests in favour of the fast erupted around the country. The fast came to an end on April 9, 2011, a day after the government agreed to Hazare's demands. The government published a gazette notice establishing a joint committee comprised of government and civil society leaders to write the law.

Amit Trivedi (born April 8, 1979) is an Indian music director, singer, and lyricist who works primarily in Hindi films and a few Telugu films. He debuted as a film composer in the 2008 Hindi film Aamir, and was noticed for his critically acclaimed work in the Hindi film Dev.D (2009), which earned him several awards, including the 2010 National Film Award for Best Music Direction. Trivedi was born into a traditional Gujarati family in Bandra, Mumbai, India. Growing up, his only exposure to music was through devotional songs and Gujarati folk. Pandey was pacing agitatedly in front of the regiment's guard room on the afternoon of March 29, 1857. He seemed overjoyed and was cheering to his fellow sepoys. He threatened to shoot the first European he met that day with a loaded musket. Lieutenant Henry Baugh, the Sergeant-adjutant, Major's rode up on a horse and was fired at by Pandey – the first gunshot at an Englishman during the 1857 Revolt. According to the judgement, Pandey was executed on April 8, 1857, and Prasad on April 21, 1857. On May 6th, the BNI's whole 34th Regiment was dissolved "with dishonour." Pablo Picasso died on April 8, 1973, at Mougins, France, of pulmonary edoema and heart failure, while entertaining guests for supper. He was the founder and editor-in-chief of Playboy magazine, which featured revealing photographs and articles that sparked obscenity charges. The first issue of Playboy, which featured Marilyn Monroe in a nude calendar shoot, was released in 1953 and sold over 50,000 copies. Ravi Kapoor (born 7 April 1942), better known as Jeetendra, is an Indian actor and producer best known for his work in Hindi films. He was honoured with a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 and a Screen Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. He is best known for his roles in Telugu remakes during the 1980s, in which he was frequently cast opposite Sridevi and Jaya Prada. Penmetsa Ram Gopal Varma (born April 7, 1962) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer best known for his work in Telugu and Hindi films, as well as television. Varma directed films in a variety of genres, including parallel cinema and docudrama, which were noted for their gritty realism, technical skill, and craft. Varma is regarded as one of the forefathers of new age Indian cinema, having won the National Film Award for his script for the political crime drama Shool. The Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, also known as the Second Kashmir War, was the culmination of skirmishes between Pakistan and India between April and September 1965. The conflict began as a result of Pakistan's Operation Gibraltar, which was designed to infiltrate forces into Jammu and Kashmir in order to spark an insurgency against Indian rule.
