Prabhu Deva (born 3 April 1973) is an Indian dance choreographer, film director, producer, and actor best known for his work in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu films. He has performed and designed a wide range of dancing styles over the course of his 32-year career, and he has won two National Film Awards for Best Choreography. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2019 for his contributions to dance. Prabhu Deva was born on April 3, 1973, in Mysore, Karnataka, to Mugur Sundar and Mahadevamma Sundar. Inspired by his father Mugur Sundar, a South Indian film choreographer, he began dancing and studied Indian classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam from Dharmaraj and Udupi Lakshminarayanan, as well as Western styles.
