Asa Maxwell Thornton Farr Butterfield is an English actor who was born on April 1, 1997. He has received two Critics' Choice Awards, two Saturn Awards, and three Young Artist Awards nominations. Butterfield began his career as a child actor and rose to prominence as the lead in the historical drama film The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (2008). During the 2010s, he continued to be a box office draw, appearing in the adventure drama Hugo (2011), the war science fiction film Ender's Game (2013), the drama X+Y (2014), and the fantasy Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016). Butterfield began playing the lead in the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education in 2019.
