An international study suggests wild grey seals prefer to clap underwater as a communication tool. A YouTube video recently showed the mammals swimming and moving their flippers creating a clapping sound. Sea mammals like seals and whales usually communicate via calls and whistles. But researchers now claim gray seals can also attract potential mates during breeding season clapping their flippers underwater.
