A giant tortoise whose libido has saved his species from extinction is now returning to his native island Galápagos. Diego was among the 14 male tortoises, part of a breeding program on Santa Cruz Island. The program has been a roaring success, delivering more than 2,000 giant tortoises since the 1960s. The 100-year-old tortoise has fathered around 800 progeny. He will join a 1,800-strong tortoise population there.
