New Zealand passes landmark law to decriminalize abortion

New Zealand has passed a historic law that will see abortion as a health issue rather than a crime from now on. While abortion has generally become much liberal in New Zealand now, the law, updated in 1977, didn’t fully reflect that change. The procedure was under the Crimes Act, needing women to prove to a doctor that their pregnancy remained a danger to physical or mental health before any abortion procedure.
