Joe Biden calls India 'xenophobic,' Jaishankar responds
India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, has countered the claims made by United States President Joe Biden that India is "xenophobic." To invalidate Biden's label, he cited the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The law grants citizenship to Hindus, Jains, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Parsis who arrived in India on or before December 31, 2014, from Bangladesh, Pakistan, or Afghanistan. He said that the policy demonstrates India's welcoming nature in a conversation with the Economic Times.
