Evidence that Parkinson’s disease start from gut is growing! According to new research, proteins believed to play a key role in the disease might spread from gastrointestinal tract to brain. Human body forms a protein alpha-synuclein found, among other places, in the brain. But, misfolded forms of this protein can damage nerve cells and can create problems with movement and speech – hallmarks of Parkinson’s disease.
