Anti-malarial drug shows promise for brain cancer treatment

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a highly aggressive form of brain cancer that often turns out to be fatal. But new findings from a team of researchers might now help boost the effectiveness of the most common treatments used now with the addition of lumefantrine, a drug used to treat malaria. The current treatment, radiation and temozolomide, an anti-cancer chemotherapy, can marginally extend the lives of patients.
