Greatest armies ever assembled
Did you know about the greatest armies that have assembled in history? Here we have mentioned those 7 times which are considered as the gathering of the greatest armies. Posted On May 19th, 2021
The Roman Army
Over a few hundred years, the Roman Army notably conquered the Western world. The Roman Army's edge was tenacity, or the capacity to battle again and again even after being defeated. During the Punic Wars, they were able to overcome the Carthaginians by first waiting them out and then adopting surprise tactics, despite a lack of expertise and resources. Victory in battle brought land handouts for destitute soldiers. For landowners, it meant both defending their assets and obtaining greater wealth. The victory meant guaranteeing Rome's security for the Roman state as a whole. As a result, Rome grew from a provincial Italian power to the lord of the Mediterranean Sea and the regions surrounding it in around three hundred years.
The Mongol Army
The Mongol Empire was established by Genghis Khan. The Mongols were essentially an unstoppable army that sprang out of nowhere to take control of the Middle East, China, and Russia. The Mongols conquered and subjugated most of Eurasia in a hundred years, conquering armies and nations with tens or even hundreds of times the Mongols' manpower when they began their invasions in 1206 with a force of only one million men. Because the Mongols could survive off their herds or the blood of their horses, they were able to deploy massive armies across incredible distances in record time. The Mongols relied extensively on fear, inflicting massive damage and casualties on vanquished foes to demoralise future foes.
Ottoman Army
During its peak, the Ottoman Army controlled the majority of the Middle East, the Balkans, and North Africa. In 1453, it seized Constantinople, one of the world's most impregnable capitals. Before its adversaries, many of whom still battled with archaic weaponry, the Ottoman Army began to make excellent use of cannons and muskets. Cannon conquered Constantinople and beat the Persians and Egyptian Mamluks. The usage of special, specialised infantry troops known as Janissaries was one of the Ottomans' greatest advantages. They had been groomed to be warriors since they were children, and as a result, they were extremely loyal and effective on the battlefield.
Nazi German Army
By overrunning most of Central and Western Europe in a short of months, Nazi Germany's Army (the Wehrmacht) stunned Europe and the world. The Nazi German troops appeared to be on the verge of conquering the huge Soviet Union. The German Army was able to accomplish these great exploits by employing the unique Blitzkrieg concept. Only armoured and mechanised infantry forces with close-range air support were involved. The aforementioned opposing forces were frequently stunned and defeated, and they offered only little opposition. Although Nazi ideology and a melomaniac commander hampered the Wehrmacht's war operations, Nazi Germany was finally brought down by a lack of resources and personnel.
Persian Army
Known as Cyrus the Great's Persian Empire. Cyrus is one of the few kings in history who is worthy of the label "Great." He built the world's first fully professional army. An army made up of men from all over the world, from Thrace in Eastern Europe to the Nabateans of Arabia, from steppe Scythian horse archers to Indian Elephant Mahouts. Except in Greece, when Xerxes' inept leadership, cockiness, and better military philosophy of the Greek Phalanx defeated them, this army emerged victorious wherever it went.
The Soviet Army
More than any other force, the Soviet Army, also known as the Red Army until 1946, was responsible for reversing the course of World War II. The Soviet Army was a military behemoth due almost solely to its massive size, as measured by area, people, and industrial resources. Except for nuclear weapons, the Soviet army of the Cold War was not much different from its enemies. The Soviet Union had huge numerical advantages in a variety of areas, the most notable of which was manpower.
Russian Army
The Russian Federation's Armed Forces, sometimes known as the Russian Armed Forces, are the Russian Federation's armed forces. The Ground Forces, the Navy, and Aerospace Forces are the three branches of the military. Strategic Missile Troops and Airborne Troops are two separate branches of the military. The Russian Armed Forces are one of the world's most powerful armed forces. They are the world's second-most powerful military force, with the world's greatest nuclear arsenal. In 2020, the Russian Federation's military budget was $61.7 billion, the fourth biggest in the world. The Russian military and intelligence agencies' Spetsnaz are well-trained intervention troops. Five Russian special task groups have made the name Spetsnaz popular and known all over the world.
