Angreji Medium

The Last movie from the master actor himself, Angreji Medium is the epitome of a father-daughter delightful relationship. Showing the extent to which a father would go to fulfil the dreams of his daughter. This lovely piece questions a lot of notions and presents before its audience a beloved message.

Thappad

A remarkable film displaying in realistic detail the treatment of women in this country, Thappad is this year’s masterpiece. Instead of focusing on extremes of women suffering it focuses on the more accepted form of patriarchy that is seen in society.

Bulbul

This film seems as if it combined indigenous folklore with Salem Witch Trials. The message of this movie was simple; a girl out on revenge against people who have continuously done her wrong and the film successfully makes its point.

Shikara

Based on the horrible events of when many Kashmiri pandits were forced to leave their homes due to the actions of militants. This story is a heart-touching tale of one of many such stories of separation from one’s home.

Gunjan Saxena

This movie is a brave work of art based on the life of Gunjan Saxena, who has a child wanted to be a pilot and became the first Indian female Air Force officer to fly in a combat zone during the 1999 Kargil War.
