8 Best Fiction Sibling Groups

Siblings are more likely to be mates than competitors in classic children's books, but the pacing of those old books doesn't always grab the kids of today. There are a few aspects that shape our lives as much as our parents and sibling relationships unless the stories we read in infancy are still the same. Books and reading also teach us something "more true than if it really happened," helping us to see our own life more clearly with fresh eyes.

The Johnsons, Black-ish

Black-ish follows an African-American family from the upper-middle-class headed by Andre 'Dre' Johnson (Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow Johnson (Tracee Ellis Ross). The show revolves around the family's lives, as they juggle many personal and sociopolitical problems. Zoey Johnson (Yara Shahidi), Andre Johnson, Jr. (Marcus Scribner), Jack Johnson (Miles Brown), and Diane Johnson are also characters in the film (Marsai Martin).

The Weasleys, Harry Potter Series

Weasley was the surname of a pure-blood wizarding family in Great Britain. Although their lack of cash and their sympathy for Muggle-born wizards and even Muggles made other wizards and witches regard them scornfully, they were considered one of the influential wizarding families. They stayed in The Burrow, a four-story or five-story ramshackle house "a little away from" the village of Ottery St Catchpole. In the Sacred Twenty-Eight list, published in the Pure-Blood Directory in the 1930s, they were included. They regretted their inclusion in the list, however, because they said they had ancestral connections to many fascinating Muggles. Their demonstrations won these families the opprobrium of the pure-blood doctrine's supporters, and the 'blood traitor' epithet. The Weasleys became Harry's second family when Harry Potter befriended Arthur and Molly Weasley's youngest son, Ronald Weasley. In the absence of Sirius Black, The Burrow became Harry's house away from home and Arthur and Molly acted as de facto godparents. When he marries Ginevra, Harry will finally meet the family.

The Pevensie Siblings, The Chronicles of Narnia

After the Age of Winter, through which a single queen, the White Witch Jadis, had reigned for a hundred years, the Pevensies became the newest dynasty of the Kingdom of Narnia. Before the departure of all four of the Pevensie siblings from the Land of Narnia, the Pevensie oligarchy lasted from Narnian-1000-1015 (they had in fact found their way back to Earth). Their reign was generally accepted as Narnia's Golden Age.

March Sisters, Little Women

In Massachusetts, four sisters and their mother, whom they call Marmee, live in genteel poverty in a new neighborhood (loosely based on Concord). Having lost all his income, their father served as a chaplain, far from home, in the American Civil War. Without him, the mother and daughters face their first Christmas. When Marmee asks her daughters to give a poor family their Christmas meal, the girls go to town laden with baskets to feed the hungry children and their mother. When they return, their older neighbor, Mr Laurence, discovers that he has sent over a decadent surprise dinner to make up for his breakfast.

The Dunphy and Pritchetts, Modern Family

Mitchell Vincent Pritchett is the son of Jay and DeDe Pritchett, the younger brother of Claire Dunphy, the step-brother of Manny Delgado, the half-brother of Joe Pritchett, the adoptive father of Lily Tucker-Pritchett and the husband of Cameron Tucker. In "The Wedding," he and Cameron finally get married.

The Gallaghers, Shameless

The Gallaghers are a huge Irish-descended family living in the South Side neighborhood of Back of the Yards in Chicago. The family is led by Father Frank, an alcoholic philosopher, while the mother of the children, Monica, left them one day to live with Roberta, another woman. That left Fiona, their eldest daughter, to look after the house and the kids. Because of her and her siblings' numerous abandonments, dating to when she was six years old, she eventually filed a lawsuit and was successfully established as her siblings' legal guardian, as long as she could provide income and housing. The eldest son of Frank and Monica is Phillip, who is best known as "Lip" and is smart and good with women.

The Hargreeves, The Umbrella Academy

Often known as The Monocle, Sir Reginald Hargreeves is an alien posing as a rich billionaire and a world-renowned scientist. At birth, he adopts the representatives of The Umbrella Academy. The Televator Inventor, the Levitator, the Clever Crisp Cereal, and the Handheld Umbrella Communicator. An Olympic fencing gold medalist and recipient of the Nobel Prize for his work on chimpanzee brain advancement. In his raising of the children, he was very cold in that he declined to let the children call him dad, preferring to be called The Monocle instead. He also called them by their number while referring to the girls, which he gave them in order of usefulness to him, in his view.

Strucker Children, The Gifted

On FOX's The Gifted, Andrew "Andy" Strucker is a big character. He is Caitlin's and Reed Strucker's mutant sibling. He inherited from one of the Fenris twins, Andreas von Strucker, his devastating telekinetic powers. Not only did the day he first learned his powers change his life, but also the lives of his entire family. He has changed his loyalty towards the Hellfire Club, originally wanting to be a firm member of the Mutant Underworld, as he wants to claim the legacy left behind by his great-grandfather.
