Murder, She Wrote, actor Ron Masak, the star who is known for his Sheriff Mort Metzger character, died at the age of 86 on Thursday. According to a family statement quoted by Variety in a report, Masak died of natural causes and was surrounded by his wife, Kay, and six children. According to Variety, Masak, born in Chicago, Illinois, on July 1, 1936, attended Chicago City College to study drama before making his acting debut in 1954.
