A huge tortoise that was thought to be extinct 100 years ago has been discovered in Ecuador's Galapagos Islands. The tortoise was discovered on Fernandina Island two years ago during a joint expedition by the Galapagos National Park and Galapagos Conservancy. In an effort to safeguard the species, the Galapagos National Park is planning an expedition to look for additional giant tortoises and other possibly endangered species.
