Here’s an interesting story! Back in 2012, about 125 students got caught cheating on a government class exam. Harvard went on to investigate this scandal, and most of the students caught were made to withdraw from the university. Yale – the arch-nemesis came up with a humorous shirt to wear during a Harvard-Yale football game, it read “Try cheating your way out of this one!” Harsh!
Another etiquette guideline that struck me was the prohibition on covering your dishes with crumpled-up napkins and debris. That, according to our advisor, demonstrates a lack of regard for the restaurant workers and the meal they delivered. She recommended folding (or even tying a bow!) in our used napkins.
There are numerous competing theories. One idea holds that because people are more likely to drink lots of water on a hot summer day, they absorb more nutrients during the summer. Another idea holds that because exposure to sunlight increases the production of vitamin D in your body, your nails grow more quickly as a result.

One weird law, that’s since been long-forgotten, is that it’s illegal to pass wind in Florida after 6pm on a Thursday. It’s never really been enforced in Florida but it was probably written in the 1800’s. It’s not clear why this ever became a law, or a rumoured law in the first place.

Malleus Maleficarum became the go-to handbook for both the hysterical masses and witch-hunters on how to deal with a witch. It was a legal and theological document written by two clergymen that offered advice like shaving the witch's hair off her body so she can't hide magical objects. Go figure.

Each night more stars and constellations begin to appear in the eastern part of the sky at dusk before moving across and disappearing over the western horizon by dawn. Likewise, those constellations which we had been able to see low near the western horizon after sunset will vanish from our view only to be replaced by constellations that had been higher in the sky at sunset just a few weeks earlier. The constellations which appear in the east have a daily shift rate close to one degree per day, as completing a 360 degrees circular journey around the Sun in 365 days produces roughly that rate. One full year later, the stars subsequently return to the same position and rising time as the year before.
Or at the very least, one that is more horror-inspired. Wes Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream) reportedly signed on to direct a Doctor Strange film in 1992. That obviously never happened, but it's fun to speculate on how terrifying his version of the Marvel sorcerer would have been.
Billions (rather than millions)... MILLIONS of Call of Duty multiplayer battles have already been played long before Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 2, or even the impending Ghosts. In total, 1.4 billion matches have been played, which is far more than all known battles in human history combined.
Yes! You read that right. Parrots have zygodactyl feet. Parrots' feet are much like human hands that they use to pick up their food and bring it to their mouth. They have one of the strongest feet among all the birds, which they use to clench branches for a long period. The strong feet even allow these birds to hang upside down from the branches.
The snake plant controls the rate of transpiration, making it an active plant. The plant can control these activities to enable dry and hot weather-resistant growth. It also makes the snake plant versatile, though. Therefore, even if you set your snake plant in a humid location, it will still grow successfully.
San Marino has never been invaded and has always maintained its independence. Cesare Borgia attempted unsuccessfully to seize it in the 1500s and 1700s, and it even resisted joining the Papal State. Fortunately, when the Napoleonic army came in the 18th century, San Marino was a political entity with a republican government. They retained its autonomy while also making economic concessions to it. The three distinctive towers of the old town, which are also featured on the flag, represent the tenacity of the Republic.

MIND THE GAP! That’s the gap between when there was a British Museum tube station and now. The photos above (courtesy of London Transport Museum) show the entrance to the Museum’s underground station in 1921, some gentlemen waiting on the platform in 1903 (with some fabulous hats!), and its construction in 1898. The station opened in 1900 but was closed in September 1933 when the new Holborn station opened, less than 100 yards away.

Thor's most renowned weapon is his hammer, Mjolnir, which was constructed in an astronomical manner, very literally. In the Marvel world, Thor's hammer was forged in the centre of a dying star. When a star dies in our universe, its core burns so hot that it creates a dense substance known as "neutronium." A single teaspoon of the substance, like Thor's hammer, is thought to weigh billions of tonnes. Some of the science in Marvel's Thor films is based on beliefs we know in this reality to make it more credible.
