Barbie is made by Mattel on a 1/6 scale, which is the standard scale for action figures. Barbie's measurements would then be 38-18-28. (reports vary based on versions of dolls). Various outlets and organizations have pointed out that her proportions are more than just an unrealistic standard; they would render a human woman physically incapable of walking, holding her head up, or having fully functioning internal organs. Mattel responded to calls for change by releasing a variety of dolls with different body types, skin tones, and hairstyles.

Augustine nuns founded a hospital in Old Quebec in the 1600s. The Hotel-Dieu de Quebec National Historic Site of Canada is a religious and medical complex that was the first of its sort north of Mexico on the North American continent. When you think of volcanoes, you might think of Hawaii, but Alaska, Hawaii's Pacific neighbour, has around 130 volcanoes, 50 of which have been active since roughly 1760. These active volcanoes account for over 75% of all volcanic eruptions in the United States over the last 200 years. Purely carnivorous, stingrays feed on creatures that reside on or beneath the beach. The first tightrope walk occurred in 1859, when Charles Blondin wore pink tights and walked a one-inch-thick tightrope over a part of Niagara Falls. Blondin returned to Niagara Falls numerous times more, including one excursion while blindfolded. In 2012, Nik Wallenda became the first person to walk across the Niagara Falls on a tightrope. Wallenda walked in front of tens of thousands of people and had his journey broadcast live on television.

Wisdom teeth, or third molars, usually appear between the ages of 17 and 25. While it varies from person to person, when these teeth appear, they frequently cause problems. Most people have a small jaw, which can cause wisdom teeth to become impacted and unable to break through the gums. Some people's wisdom teeth only partially penetrate their gums, resulting in a flap in their mouth that traps germs. This can result in infections and other problems. Infections, damage to other teeth, and even cysts can result from an impacted teach. Another issue with wisdom teeth is that they are so far back that they can be difficult to clean. This also raises the risk.

According to legend, the addition of candles to cakes began in Ancient Greece, where cakes were made in the shape of a moon for the Goddess of the Moon, Artemis.The moonlight was reflected in the candles, and the smoke lifted the devotee's prayers to Artemis. It's also said that when we blow out the candles on birthday cakes, the smoke carries our wishes away to be granted.
