Although it may appear like there is a conspiracy for everything, we are no more paranoid now than we were 130 years ago. To demonstrate this, researchers examined over 100,000 letters to the editor from The New York Times and The Chicago Tribune between 1890 and 2010. According to the Washington Post, the study indicated "a steady background hum of conspiracy thinking, rather than an ever-increasing cacophony."
