India designated nine men accused of promoting terrorism in Punjab as terrorists this week under the country's anti-terror law. As per the law that was amended last year, the home ministry gets the power to ban not just organizations but individuals as well. An FIR has been lodged against one of the nine, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu and his associates in Amritsar and Kapurthala for sedition and secessionism.
