Italian court frees an Eritrean man wrongly extradited for people smuggling

An Italian court has freed an Eritrean man who was wrongly extradited to the country for people smuggling. Medhanie Tesfamariam Behrewas a victim of mistaken identity for the alleged trafficking kingpin Mered Medhanie, known as The General; and spent 3 years in prison. Although Behre was given a 5-year sentence for aiding people smuggling; the court admitted its error, and he was allowed to walk free.
