A 193-member UN Assembly embraced the resolution 'Towards torture-free trade' and have abstained from voting against options to end the trade in goods used for capital punishment and torture, stating that it is 'unacceptable' to place death penalty on par with torture. There were 44 abstentions with 81 in favour to 20 against. The first secretary stressed that torture itself is a crime and 'unlawful' and should be prevented.
