Shunji Sugaya recalled his life-changing moment. It was March 2000, Sugaya had just won an award at a business contest where Masayoshi Son, the founder of SoftBank was a judge. He sent Son an email to thank him, the two met up, and SoftBank offered to buy Sugaya’s idea for $2.8 million and asked him to join the firm, but he declined and decided to run his own firm and is now set to become a billionaire.
