India's economy to grow at slightly over 1 percent in 2020-21, need to expand testing capacity: IMF chief economist

International Monetary Fund(IMF) chief economist Gita Gopinath when asked about India's economic growth amid the Covid19 crisis, said that the economy of India is expected to grow at slightly over 1% over 2020 and 2021. According to the IMF, the Indian economy would contract by 4.5% in 2020. Gopinath said India needs to "expand its testing capacity". She also vouched for more direct cash transfer to the vulnerable class.
