India replaces Japan to become 2nd largest steel producer in the world

In an achievable feat, India has surpassed Japan as the world's second-largest steel-producing country in the world. China is the only country in the world that produces more steel than India. According to the World Steel Association (world steel), China accounts for 51 per cent of the steel produced in the world. India's crude steel production in 2018 was at 106.5 MT, up by 4.9 per cent from 101.5 MT in 2017.
