Hyundai fined $47 million for dirty diesel engines by US authorities

Hyundai, the South Korean automaker, will have to pay a $47 million fine for illegally importing and selling dirty diesel engines in violation of American environmental rules. The company imported about 2300 diesel engines that didn't meet the US emission standards. The Hyundai diesel engines were not certified to meet emission standards for particulate matter & Nitrogen oxide, both cause diseases, and premature death.
