Death of Lee Kun-hee leaves Samsung heirs with taxes worth billions

Samsung Electronics Corporation Chairman Lee Kun-hee passed away on Sunday, leaving behind taxes worth nearly $10 billion for his heirs to pay. Kun-hee had an estimated fortune of $20.7 billion. Although, it is highly unlikely that the heirs will sell the stake in the company to pay taxes as it may reduce their control over the company. Chaebul CEO Chung Sun-sup said the heirs may make a cash payment through dividends or salaries.
