Dean Foods, America’s biggest milk producer, files for bankruptcy

Dean Foods has confirmed that it has already filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The Dallas-based milk producer wants to use the Chapter 11 proceedings to run the business, and clear debt and unfunded debt obligations while plans for selling the company is on. Dean Foods recently secured commitments for $850 million in debtor-in-possession financing, which usually funds companies in financial distress.
