COVID-19 impact: Australia's economy faces uncertain future

The bushfire is a distant memory for Australia as coronavirus pandemic shatters the country’s economy. The Black Summer fires added to an increasing economic slip-up but COVID-19 has resulted in an alarming collapse. In just one week around one million Australians are left unemployed. So far, direct government aid to businesses is close to A$200bn, or 10% of the Australian income or GDP which never happened before.
