China's GDP grew at 2.3% in 2020, slowest growth rate in over 4 decades

According to the official data, the Chinese economy grew at 2.3 percent amid the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. This was the slowest growth in the country's economy in the past 40 years. Last year was a "grave and complex environment both at home and abroad," said the National Bureau of Statistics while referring to the pandemic. The countries economy grew by 6.1 percent in 2019, which itself was the lowest in decades.
