Make in India: Trial run next week for first self-propelled train

Train-18, a self-propelling train conceptualized, designed and manufactured in India, will be tried out next week. The 16-coach train with 50% more power, which cost Rs 100 crore, will reduce travelling time on Shatabdi Express routes by 10-15% due to better acceleration. The imported components of the train include a smart braking system from Hungary, 360 degree rotating seats from Spain and transformers.
