1. CAA
A huge uproar majority led by protestors from the Muslim community stormed the country in December 2019 over Indian government’s Citizenship Amendment Act that guaranteed citizenship to six persecuted minority communities — Hindus, Parsis, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Christians — who arrived in India on or before December 31, 2014. The protest continued till March 2020.
2. Donald Trump In India
‘Namaste Trump’ event was organised by the Indian government for US President Donald Trump who arrived in India on February 24 on a 2-day visit and jointly addressed a huge rally with PM Narendra Modi at Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad.
3. Coronavirus Lockdown
On March 24, PM Narendra Modi-led Indian government announced a 21-day complete lockdown in the wake of Covid which was extended till May 31.
4. India-China Face-Off
Indian troops were stopped from constructing roads in the border areas along the LAC by the Chinese troops which led to a military standoff and the two sides indulged in a violent clash on June 15 in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred and over 45 Chinese soldiers were killed.
5. Ram Mandir Bhumi Poojan
On August 5, PM Narendra Modi arrived in Ayodhya for the Bhoomi Poojan of Ram Temple after the Supreme Court cleared the land for temple construction after over a century-old property dispute.
6. US Election
The United States went for its 59th quadrennial presidential election on November 3, giving a majority to Democrat Joe Biden and electing him as the 46th President.
7. Farmers Protest
A newly passed farm bill sowed the seeds of distrust and dissatisfaction in the hearts of farmers majorly from Punjab and Haryana who blocked the borders of capital Delhi after lodging protests in their respective states earlier.
